The Book of the Tarpon (Signed and Inscribed First Edition) New York Outing 1911 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket SIGNED and inscribed by Dimock: "To Molly & Louis Whitlock. Dear Molly & Louis; 'Lest we forget,' the gorge, the lake and the day. With the love of Uncle Anthony. The Happy Valley, Peekamoose, N.Y., September 16, 1917." Dimock (1842-1918) was a financier, sportsman, author, and early preservationist of the Catskills. He and some of his fellow fishermen purchased land to protect the upper Rondout Creek near Peekamoose, and Dimock referred to this area as Happy Valley. Spine moderately sunned, covered lightly soiled and rubbed, binding sound, one internal page torn and archivally repaired. Scarce book with a wonderful inscription. Price:
